Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Groups are happening! Let's keep Colorado on the leading edge of psychedelic medicine work by coming together in community to learn, share, and grow. Each Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Group starts with an informative topic relevant to research, practice, policy, or activism around psychedelic medicines, followed by open discussion and an opportunity to connect with like-minded others.
Join us the first Thursday of each month in Denver at Beacon RiNo at 6:30pm! Most months we'll start at 6:30pm with education and discussion with a speaker or panel. By 7:30pm we'll move to networking and socializing on the back patio (during the nice weather months). Note that we will have (at least some) chairs for seating for the educational portion of the evening :) Join us for all or part of these special monthly events!
September, we are excited to be joined by Dr. Scott Shannon, founder of the Wholeness Center and site Principal Investigator and therapist for the Phase III trial of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Scott has been a student of consciousness since his honors thesis on that topic at the University of Arizona in the 1970s under the tutelage of Dr. Andrew Weil. Following medical school, Scott studied Jungian therapy and acupuncture while working as a primary care physician in a rural area for four years. MDMA-assisted psychotherapy became a facet of his practice before this medicine was scheduled in 1985. Scott is a past President of the American Holistic Medical Association and a past President of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. He also founded the Psychedelic and Research Training Institutes in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Scott is joining us in Denver this month to take a closer look at the FDA's August response to the MDMA-assisted therapy New Drug Application, offer some insider perspective on the last tumultuous year of bringing MDMA through the FDA approval process, and provide insight into the future of MDMA-assisted therapy. We hope you will join us!
