We are invoking the great epic storytelling tradition of the Old Norse Sagas.  We are tracing our ancestry back to the lines of our fathers, our mothers, our brothers, and our sisters.  We are taking our place at the table of heroes.  We are musically retelling the visions of the Viking people who believed that courage was what mankind needed during the darkest of times. 

The times were dark, full of fearsome monsters and savage enemies.  The times called for heroes.  To the Vikings, a person could not live a worthy life unless they embraced an honorable death, whenever Fate dictated that it was time to leave this world and enter the glory of the eternal home of the mighty heroes:  the legendary Valhalla. 

Music can be epic. Music can be glorious.  Music can give us courage.  Music is a living vision of Valhalla, where the brave live forever!
